BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s tennis team (2-0) earned two victories as they defeated both Nicholls (0-1) and Southern (0-1) in their home opening double header.

“I thought we did really well today,” said LSU head coach Julia S. Sell.  “It was the first match, and we have a lot of freshmen and a lot of new faces so we were a little nervous at times, but we competed hard.  We got better and better with each set.  It was a great opening day.”

No. 66 LSU defeated Nicholls 4-2 in the first match and followed with a 5-1 victory against Southern.

Newcomer Joana Vale Costa and Skylar Hollowaywon their first doubles match in dominating fashion as they knocked off Isla Brock and Emma Kranendonk of Nicholls 6-1.
